It’s 1945, during the Japanese occupation.
Kang Ok (Hwang Jung-min), the orchestra director of the Gyeongseong Bando Hotel, and his only daughter So-Hee (Kim Su-an).
Chilsung (SoJi-sub), a fist that wrinkles the Jongro neighborhood, and Malnyeon (Lee Jung-hyun), who has suffered all kinds of hardships under Japanese rule.
The Koreans, each with a different story, are fooled by the promise of making money in Japan and head to Gunkhamdo.
However, the ship they boarded arrived at Gunkhamdo, a “hell island” where Koreans were forcibly recruited and exploited as laborers.
