Tae-soo, a detective in Seoul, returns to his hometown after more than a decade, having heard about the death of King Jukmagow as a child. He reunites with Pil-ho, Seok-hwan, and Dong-hwan at the funeral. Suspicious of Wang Jae’s sudden death, Tae-soo decides to stay in his hometown for a few more days, postponing his trip to Seoul. While conducting an investigation centered around Wang Jae, Tae-soo is attacked by a group of thugs and narrowly escapes with the help of Seok-hwan. The events of the day deepen their suspicions, and Tae-soo and Seok-hwan begin to dig deeper into Wang-jae’s death. But the closer they get to the man behind the death, the more inexplicable deaths follow. Tae-soo and Seok-hwan become fated partners and declare war on unseen enemies. One by one, the clues to death are revealed. In the name of development, their hometown has turned into a living hell. In the shadow of a strange city where their friend is dead and their hometown has disappeared, will they be able to uncover the truth behind the death of the king?
